Pilates is an exercise programme developed by Joseph Hubertus Pilates (1880 - 1967) that has the perfect balance of strength and flexibility.

Pilates is a body conditioning method that works in a different way to other fitness techniques. It targets the deep postural muscles and works by building strength from the inside out. Pilates changes muscle recruitment patterns, corrects common muscle imbalances and works towards restoring good alignment and natural normal movement. Each exercise is built on the foundation of Pilates eight key principles:

Pilates changes the way in which we use our bodies both mentally and physically. Some of the benefits include improved posture, better core stability, less injuries, and a flatter tummy. To achieve these benefits one has to spend a little time each week practising the method.
